07-03-2024 Update from Helen Dennis
Hi Li and Jeremie
Hopefully this information has already reached you but I wanted to pass on the news that a CCTV camera has now been installed for the next 12 weeks. Cllr Vambe & myself have been chasing up on the other measures and will let you know as soon as we hear back. The CCTV along with the recent closure order is good progress in the right direction and much thanks to Cllr Ennin who has really helped us push things along.
Details on the cameras as below:
We have installed the temporary Camera at Albert Barnes House. It's on a lighting column on Meadow Row at the junction with Arch Street.
It is set up with a field of view over the two, rear entrances in the Car Park (as identified by the Residents) as places where drug users congregate.
It's one of our re-deployable cameras and is fully movable. It can zoom-in to collect good facial evidence and is routed to our CCTV Control Room at the police station, where it is recorded. Please refer the police to that location for recorded evidence enquiries.
The camera will be in place for 12 weeks, at which point we will review its' usefulness before re-locating it, to another site, subject to consultation with you and the police SNT.
Please feel free to circulate the Control Room number to Residents, who can call 24/7 and report suspicious activity to the CCTV Control Room Staff. The Control Room number is 02074079553. Please bear in mind, that until further cameras are installed, the CCTV Operators can only see the car park and rear entrances.

Hi Gabriella, Sharron & Natasha,
Sarah Pope (CCTV Manager) has asked me to convey the following to you.

Following every new deployment, a Briefing document is issued to the CCTV Operators to instruct them what to look for on their patrols. I will forward you a copy.
Finally, has any progress been made on funding? Has a budget for the permanent camera deployments been found? Please advise.
Kind regards,
Paul Keeley

27-02-2024 Update at TRA meeting
Joseph Vambe said that 2 CCTV will be added, the questions left are when ? and who pays for it ?
26-02-2024 Follow up
We asked if there is any quotes received for the installation of CCTV cameras, reinforcement of outside gates, and upgrading the main building block magnets ?
12-02-2024 Follow up from Li Williams
Hi Helen,
Thanks for getting back to us re. Jeremie's email.
The situation at ABH unsurprisingly hasn't improved. The side door, facing New Kent Road, (see email earlier today) is weak enough to be forced open and it appears to be common knowledge to non residents that this door can be used to access the building. We'd assumed this door had been fixed (was it mended and then compromised again?) - This door was well used by groups of people over the weekend!
I was looking through our TRA minutes and under the section on Anti Social Behaviour, discovered that in 2018, 2019 and the beginning of 2020, we had very similar problems. In 2019 the provision of CCTV, with no extra cost to leaseholders was about to be implemented.
I've attached the minutes from these meetings.
It's very disappointing that 5 years later we've made so very little progress.
We do appreciate your continued help with these issues. I realise it's difficult to implement measures that prove effective in the long term. However, it's challenging to be living in an environment where we have to be so hyper-vigilant in and around our homes. Many people simply don't feel safe.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks and best wishes,

Dear Jeremie and Li
Apologies for a delayed response and please be assured that we are following up on the action plan. Council officers are waiting on some quotes for some of the proposed options and are then proposing a further meeting on site.
I’m copying in my ward colleagues and some of the council officers working on this.
We will be in touch shortly.
With best wishes
Helen

Dear Helen Dennis,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to follow up on the email I sent on February 1st regarding several security enhancement initiatives for the ABH Tenants and Residents Association (TRA), where I have recently taken on the role of Vice-Chair.
As we have not yet received a response, I wanted to ensure that my previous message reached you and that I am directing my queries to the correct individual within the council. The safety and security of our residents are paramount, and we are eager to progress with the proposed enhancements, including the installation of CCTV cameras, reinforcement of outside gates, and upgrading the main building block magnets.
If there are any updates regarding these initiatives or if further information is required from our end, please do let us know. Additionally, if there is someone else within the council who would be more suited to assist with these matters, I would appreciate it if you could direct me to the appropriate contact.
We understand that you have many responsibilities and appreciate any time and attention you can provide to our concerns. Please let me know a convenient time for a call or meeting to discuss these matters in more detail, or if email correspondence is preferred, I am happy to continue our conversation in this format.
Thank you once again for your attention to this important matter. I look forward to your prompt response.
Warm regards,

CCTV Installation: We understand the importance of ensuring the safety and security of our residents. In previous discussions, the installation of 2 CCTV cameras was proposed to enhance surveillance and deter potential security breaches. Could you please provide an update on the progress of this initiative? We are keen to understand the current status and any potential timelines for implementation.
